Top dogs for outdoor 2017 / Big door prize / Best Team Name winners
6 days ago

Congratulations to Lambert Broeren’s orange-jerseyed “Old Cheddar” for taking home first place during the regular season this summer and to Ross Wilson’s Cobalt Blues for claiming top honours in the post-season Founders’ Cup, after a tight 1-0 victory over Mark Meng’s Redneck Rovers in the final.

Come back in a few days for photos of the final day of play and of the post-game festivities at the Blackburn Arms Pub.

Special thanks to Bellefleur Physiotherapy in Orléans ( for donating an amazing door prize for this year’s end-of-season party: two Ottawa Senators tickets and a parking pass to an upcoming home game against the New Jersey Devils. Winner Yanick Giroux of team Old Cheddar was all smiles as he collected his prize. Not a bad season, eh, Yan? First place in the standings, then this treat!

Romeo Pantalone’s “Ten Refs and a Keeper” each received a 10$ LCBO gift card for coming up with this summer’s best team name, according to a vote among all squad managers. The new black-and-white striped team jerseys were no doubt a factor in the novel moniker!
